Tuesday Night Workouts- Guess Your Time 5K (Easter Edition)
The second Guess Your Time 5K was held March 22 at our Tuesday
Night Workout at Catlin Gabel School. This was our Easter
Edition of the 5K.
Participants had to estimate their 5K times before the run
and then were stripped of their watches (or at least threatened
with a lifetime ban from free pizza on the first Tuesday pizza
feed).
Chuck Coats (the first winner of the event in December)
was the official starter and Jeff Hollister the official recorder.
Chuck and Jeff Wehrman were official timers for the event.
Bryan Westby (ODR Editor) was the official photographer, which
wasn't an easy feat since he was also a participant.
It was a close race to see whose actual time came closest
to their estimated time. The top 10 finishers were all within
a minute of their goal. Many runners surprised themselves
by running faster than they thought. It was Michelle Fry's
first time to the Tuesday night group and she ran 2:28 faster
than she thought. It proves that just showing up for the Tuesday
night workouts makes you faster!
AND THE TOP 3 WINNERS WERE.
Fidel Banuelos with a time of 19:04 (4 seconds off the est.
time), Bryan Westby was 2nd with a time of 18:49 (11 seconds
off his est. time) and George Opsahl was 3rd with a race walking
time of 28:15 (16 seconds off his est. time). The fastest
male time was Jason Colquhoun with a time of 18:35 and the
fastest female was Anna, with a time of 23:36.
Winners were awarded with an Easter basket full of goodies.
