Oregon Road Runners Club 18th Annual Wildwood Trail Trial
Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2008
Run this ORRC 10K series event downhill on the scenic Wildwood Trail.
ORRC Wildwood Trail Trial is a unique race on trails in beautiful Forest Park, and is the last Great Summer 10K! Forest Park is the largest naturally forested urban USA park, with over 5,000 acres and 70+ miles of trails. WTT is a “cool” way to end the summer, and is a great way to help homeless or low income families through Human Solutions, Inc. & Snow-Cap Community Charities. Wildwood Trail was featured in the Sep 04 Runner’s World.
THE COURSE
Packed earth trail with many turns. Mostly good surface but with some rocks, roots, and occasional slugs. Registration and Start at the junction of the Wildwood Trail and Fire Lane 1, proceed south to Upper Macleay Park. A 650’ elevation loss in the first 5.7 miles and a 200’ climb in the last half mile. Note: this is not a closed course; expect to share the trail with other runners, families, walkers, and leashed dogs.
Walkers are welcome but will not have separate award categories.

SEVEN GREAT REASONS FOR RUNNING THIS EVENT
- You choose your start time, so you don’t necessarily have to get up at the crack of dawn.
- Last great ORRC run of the summer!
- Excellent opportunity to get an intro to trail running.
- Students (high school age and under) pay only $5, and compete in a separate award category!
- Run with your friends!
- Your running benefits local charities.
- You can earn ORRC 10K Series points in a local event that was highlighted in the Sept 04, Runner’s World!
CHARITIES YOU SUPPORT BY RUNNING
A portion of your entry fee goes to Human Solutions, Inc., which (through a consortium of churches) helps homeless families gain self-sufficiency by providing temporary, safe housing and support. Snow-Cap Community Charities (which provides food, clothing and help for families in need in East Multnomah County) will benefit if you drop off new school supplies (and you get a $1 refund!), or donate your excess running shirts or other clothes. Drop boxes for Snow-Cap are at the Start and Finish areas.
RESULTS AND AWARDS
Results are mailed to each finisher, posted on this website, and published in ORRC’s magazine, the Oregon Distance Runner. Plaques will be given to the first place finishers (male and female, first male and female masters and, first male and female students). Ribbons will be given in 5-year age divisions (0-4, 5-9, 10-14, 15-19, and 5-year increments thereafter to 85 & up). EVERYONE receives an “I Survived!” ribbon!
